“In this time of change, we explore in mud boots and short sleeves….We begin to feel “lighter” out there as we shed those literal layers of winter….we dance in these rays of cool, fresh, spring sun….a time marked for rejoicing and celebrating all that is to come.” from The First Day , Amanda Blake Soule’s essay in her book with Stephen Soule, The Rhythm of Family.

“It is important to keep moving forward because the only way to live in the present is to practice living in the present. My artistic process brings me most consistently and passionately here.” lotus peach, December 2012.

I cannot help seeing the bright, delicate ways nature serves up to cheer us each and every day. I took these photos with my phone as my husband and I were walking with our dog yesterday in a nearby park. I was drawn to the bright ombre colors in the branches and the soft budding blooms contrasting with the still mostly brown and grey landscape of winter. This time of year is such a needed peek at the Spring yet to come.
